Situational Crime Prevention is a primary prevention measure which aims to stop crime before it occurs. It has amazing application for preventing child abuse and neglect in organisational settings.

Situational Crime Prevention focuses on reducing the risk of harm to children by reducing opportunities for offenders and making it too risky and too effortful for the would-be-perpetrator to engage in conduct which would cause harm to children. Rather than focusing on identifying potential offenders, situational crime prevention focuses on creating an environment in which the risk of detection engaging in behaviour which poses a risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is to high to be considered ‘worth it’ for the offender.
